TapInfluence taps former
NexGen CFO for finance chief

BOULDER — TapInfluence, providers of influencer marketing software, has hired former NexGen Storage CFO Pat Benner to oversee the company’s finance and administrative activities. Benner managed the sale of Lousiville-based NexGen to Fusion-io for $119 million last April.

TapInfluence is looking to its new Chief Financial Officer to drive operational processes and procedures “to scale the company's hyper-growth and accelerate the returns on invested capital,” according to a company announcement. The firm recently received a $5 million round of new funding. (See story.)

Benner has 25 years of experience in a variety of roles with rapidly growing companies in data storage, industrial products and healthcare information technology. He began his career as a CPA with Ernst & Young and has since worked for StrionAir, The Beryl Companies, Access Health and McKesson.

TapInfluence specializes in connecting clients with “market influencers,” individuals who hold particular sway with specialized audiences. Based on the premise that consumer buying decisions are highly influenced by authorities in a particular market space, TapInfluence matches marketers with bloggers and other influencers who can help raise the profile of specific brands.

The company offers a cloud-based platform for marketers and agencies to identify online influencers, connect with them, and work together to create meaningful, brand-sponsored content. Founded in 2009, the Boulder firm counts Microsoft, ABC News, Proctor & Gamble, JC Penny and RedBox among its current customers.
